The website has a new face! Perhaps you are wondering how can Torah be easy? I have endeavored to make Bible reading easy for the average Joe to understand. We have abandoned standard doctrine and let the Bible speak on its own. Why? The Bible teaches one thing, but every denomination has different takes. It is time to return to the ancient path that was established in the Bible (Jeremiah 6:16). My journey in this study has taken a new route in the last few years.
Torah is found all through the Old and New Testaments. Jesus stated that if we are going to follow Him we must follow His Torah (commandments) (John 14:10; 15:10). It is intriguing that this Greek word “Entola” can also be translated as “instructions” (Colossians 4:10). “Torah” literally means teaching or instructions. When quoting Joshua 1:8; we are not saying that we will follow God’s laws but rather we will follow His instructions or literally “Torah”. Jesus said that He would give the Holy Spirit to teach us all things and bring to remembrance all that Jesus taught (John 14:26). This is the essence of Torah: it is a living word that guides our lives.
Bible translators have traditionally and almost exclusively translated “torah” as “law” in both the old and new Testaments. This has been a discredit to good Bible Study. Due to this translation many Christians have reached the conclusion that the Old Testament is a dusty book of history and laws that have been done away with. Nothing could be further from the truth! It is a book that is alive with instructions that guide the lives of both Jews and Christians.
In future studies I will be focusing on how that the Jewish feasts impact a believers life. Part of the process will be looking at the Bible through the perspective of the Torah. As I refocused on Torah, I realize that it challenges the base philosophies that some Christian churches are built upon. In essence, here is the worldview: Jesus is Yeshua, a Jew. He is God and came to earth not to establish a new religion, but to draw His people to Himself. He kept the Jewish feasts and festivals, and exclusively taught Torah. By looking at His life and at biblical festivals from a Jewish perspective, an entirely new perspective opens up. From this perspective, nothing new can be found in the New Testament. It is a commentary written on the Torah. Join me in the journey.
As a disclaimer, many of the archived studies on this site were written many years ago. Editing them to reflect the cange in focus has proved to be overwhelming. Please keep this in consideration as you navigate the site.
