About us

My name is Joe Turner

I retired from Union Pacific Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer. I retired in 2023. I have raised 6 children. One son is a contractor, father of two children. The other is a vet tech who is the father of one child. Both boys served time in the military. I have a daughter who was a military medical doctor, she now has an OBGYN practice in Redding, California. One daughter is a homemaker and mother of 10 children. I have one girls in her third year of Medical School at University of Louisvile. The remaining girl is working for a local hospital and in training to be an Ultrasound tech. Life very busy since I retired.

My wife is a wonderful woman who stands beside me in this study. She is a mighty woman of God who constantly points me to the truth of the Word. In a word, she is a miracle. In November, 2004 she underwent brain surgery to remove a “dermatoma” tumor that had grown. A second surgery soon followed. They said it had little to no chance of coming back. Yet, in September, 2016, it did come back and she underwent her third brain surgery. To date, she has had three brain surgeries, and two cervical spine surgeries. God keeps healing her and making her recovery quick. I hope that she will soon start writing and share with you her pearls of wisdom… She is currently going through medical problems associated with the surgeries. We are hoping for a miracle soon.

I lead this Bible study over the internet for several years. I have pages archived that are not published. I would estimate that the commentary covers close to eighty percent of the Bible. Since retiring, I have not posted. I hope to be changing that soon. Keep watching.

I am committed to reading and studying the Bible daily. I encourage everyone I know to get on a Bible reading plan and faithfully read through the Bible yearly. My main resource is Logos Software, available at http://www.logos.com for a price, they also have various editions to suit your needs. Recently they have made a subscription available, I highly recommend this. It offers the complete software at a fraction of the cost.

My passion is to encourage you to take what you learn and apply it to your life. Then when you go back to your church, you will spread the truth of the Gospel to many more people than I could ever dream of reaching. Join me in learning and applying God’s word.

Remember, this study is constantly under construction as the needs change in our lives, bear with us and grow with us. Lots of stuff going on, I work on this in my spare time, so be patient on the updates.

My dream, vision, or whatever you want to call it.

I hope to build a home fellowship. It will have a Messianic emphasis, yet the focus will be on the Gentile believers. The idea of this is to take the Jewish festivals from the Bible and make them the focus of study. This will be blended with Christian truth that has been gleaned from the Bible. If we find something that is not in the Bible but based upon tradition either from the Jewish or Christian side, we will cast it aside. It will be an exercise in minimalization. That is what we need to focus on. It’s time to clean out the junk and start fresh.

I am convinced that in the near future all Christians will soon be facing persecution. Evidence indicates that the main target will be breaking down churches who teach the truth. Mega churches which tickle ears and teach platitudes of pop psychology religion will probably survive. Yet, those who desire to draw near to the true God will suffer legal and illegal persecution. When this happens, we will see home churches and home groups explode as Christianity goes underground. I hope that I am wrong on this. When it happens, I plan to train believers in righteousness according to the truth revealed through the Bible.

Another aspect of my life is involvement in the ARMS, Asian Relief Medical Services mission to the Philippines in the spring of the year. I have seen thousands of people brought to the saving knowledge of Jesus, receiving free medical care and many miraculously healed. I am excited about this mission and privileged to be involved in it. Several of the photos that you see on this site were taken on those trips.

One of the hobbies that I have is that of amateur photography. I have fun at it. The ducks on the banner was a random shot out of a window on a journey to a mission site. I hope you enjoy the various other images that you find on this site. If they are not my work, I will credit them.

Another of my hobbies is woodturning. I have a full woodturning shop with the necessary tools to turn bowls, rolling pins, and a veritable multitude of other items. I am not currently selling them. Maybe one day I will open a shop on Etsy.

Thanks for reading,

Joe.
